Reimagined as an open, light-filled hub at Portland State University, the Pan-African Commons blends Afrocentric patterns, layered textiles, and curated art with warm neutrals and natural wood tones to create a grounded and welcoming environment.
Key features include a central lounge for connection, flexible study zones for focus, and greenery woven throughout to bring life and calm. Designed as a home base for students, the space invites reflection and celebration—fostering belonging through intentional, community-rooted design.
